Innovate Motorsports Releases DL-32 Data Logger

Newest component of the MTSTM (Modular Tuning System) provides up to 32-channels of data logging, with multiple built-in sensors.

Irvine, California, February 21, 2006- Innovate Motorsports today announced the release of the DL-32 Data Acquisition Device. The DL-32 is a complete system for advanced engine tuning. The system is anchored by Innovate Motorsports’ award-winning digital wideband Air/Fuel Ratio technology, but also includes flexible sensors for RPM, MAP, Temperature, Duty Cycle, and analog inputs. The basic DL-32 unit features the following:

32-channels of data recording capability, 12 samples per second
17 minutes of recording per MB of SD Card capacity
1-bar to 3-bar pressure sensor (MAP, Vacuum, Boost, etc.)
Thermocouple amplifier (EGT, CHT, etc.)
Duty cycle and Frequency sensing
2-axis accelerometer (Acceleration Gs, Braking Gs, and Cornering Gs)
Ignition timing sensing
RPM measurement
5V power supply for external sensors
3 solenoid/relay outputs
Expansion inputs for GPS, audio annotation, and video camera controls

The DL-32 is a compliant MTS component, so users can chain together additional MTS components, such as Innovate’s popular LC-1 wideband oxygen-sensor controller and air/fuel ratio meter. For example, a common configuration for advanced tuning would include multiple LC-1’s for individual cylinder tuning, a DL-32, and any other required MTS components.

For RPM, the DL-32 includes options for direct tach input, inductive clamp, GMR sensor, or optical sensors. For Manifold Absolute Pressure, the DL-32 features a configurable 1-bar, or 3-bar pressure sensor for both normally-aspirated and forced-induction applications. Multiple temperature, frequency and duty-cycle channels round out the input capabilities of the DL-32.

The DL-32 features 3 programmable solenoid/relay outputs that can be used to drive options like enrichment fuel injectors, water/alcohol pumps, CIS frequency valves, nitrous safety switches, turbo wastegate controllers, and more.

The DL-32 ships with LogWorks 2, Innovate’s powerful analysis software. This is the same software used by top engine builders, tuners, and developers, and features Dyno-formatted charts, 3D charting, and a flexible math engine for creating custom tuning formulas.

A key feature of LogWorks 2.0 is a full math engine for generating calculated traces. For example, LogWorks can calculate and graph horsepower and torque, allowing direct mapping and comparison of HP vs. RPM vs. AFR. This enables users to gather performance data with a number of different fuel maps (or jetting changes, etc.), the use LogWorks to directly determine peak volumetric efficiency at any RPM or load. In other works, LogWorks 2.0 can tell you not only what your AFRs are, but also what they should be.

“The goal with the DL-32 is to set a new standard for data acquisitionâ€? says Klaus Allmendinger, Innovate Motorsports’ VP of Engineering. “Archored by our wideband technology, and augmented by the internal sensors and LogWorks, we can deliver big team power at a fraction of the traditional cost.â€?

“We’ve completed the connection from the dyno to the street, to the track and back,â€? states Patrick Thompson, Innovate’s President, “Users can compare DL-32 track data to ST-12 dyno data on the same software platform, or email log files to their engine builder or tuner for setup advice.â€?

The DL-32 retails for $499 (MSRP). The forums at www.tuneyourengine.com feature insider tips and tricks for the novice and ultimate enthusiast alike.

Google click to call

john cecil – February 19 2006

Google click to call in beta – i think that this is going to be a huge market for Google and the PPC model – Google is not the first to enter this market but they will probally dominate it:

Here is a Q & A on their beta site:

1. What’s the phone icon on Google search results? How does it work?

We’re testing a new product that gives you a free and fast way to speak directly to the advertiser you found on a Google search results page – over the phone.

Here’s how it works: When you click the phone icon, you can enter your phone number. Once you click ‘Connect For Free,’ Google calls the number you provided. When you pick up, you hear ringing on the other end as Google connects you to the other party.

We won’t share your telephone number with anyone, including the advertiser. When you’re connected with the advertiser, your number is blocked so the advertiser can’t see it. In addition, we’ll delete the number from our servers after a short period of time.
2. Am I charged to connect to an advertiser?

No. Google foots the bill for all calls – local and long-distance. However, if we call a mobile phone number, you may incur airtime fees depending on the mobile phone plan. Check your mobile phone provider for details.
3. Is this just a way for Google to track me?

No. We take your privacy very seriously. Google does not share your telephone number with anyone (without your consent), including the advertiser. When you’re connected with the advertiser, your number is blocked. The advertiser can’t see your phone number.

In addition, we retain your information (including your phone number, date, time, and call length) only temporarily. It will be deleted from our servers after a period reasonably necessary to operate, audit, and evaluate the service.

Learn more about our Privacy Policy.
4. Whose caller ID do I see when connected?

The advertiser’s number appears on your caller ID when Google connects you. This way, you can save the merchant’s number for future call-backs.

Guerilla Marketing – On the Loose

Guerilla marketing is unconventional way to advertise–you can run, but you can’t hide. It is form of undercover marketing in a sense. This concept is one of the future, and one that we are expected to see walking your pooch, hanging out at your favorite hot spot or simply taking out the trash. Advertising has no boundaries. These promotions are sometimes designed so that the target audience is left unaware they have been marketed to making them virtually unavoidable.

The days of direct mailers, flyers and other traditional advertising tactics are growing obsolete. People in the field have coined “guerilla marketingâ€? as a way for you to catch ads throughout your day. What does this mean? Let me give you an example: expect to see television ads pop up at your local grocery store as you wait in line, expect to see them in the sky, on the floor, anywhere you can think of–unavoidable. Ads will now track you in places you would never expect.

As time goes on and technology advances, our attention spans become shorter. Companies realize this, and know that they must get to their buyers in quick, alternative ways that are virtually inescapable. For this reason alone, guerilla marketing is going to sneak its way into our schedule. With that said, remember…you can’t hide.
