Keyword Buys
Some search engines tie keywords to
advertising sales. When a user searches
for a particular keyword, the results
page often have a banner advertisement
displayed buy advertisers that purchased
the keyword.
Keyword Density
A percentage measure of how many times
a keyword is repeated within text of
a page. For example, if a page contains
100 words and ten of those words are
"house", then "house"
is said to have a 10% keyword density.
There are programs that will rate keyword
density by singular words or by groups
of words, "new home for sale".
Keyword Frequency
Denotes how often a keyword appears
in a page or in an area of a page. In
general, the higher the number of times
a keyword appears in a page, the higher
its ranking in the search engines. However,
repeating a keyword too often
Keyword Phrase
Refers to two or more keywords combined
to form a search query. A favorite restaurant
of mine is a two keyword phrase: Pizza
Hut.
Keyword Prominence
(Density)
How close to the start of an area that
your keyword appears. The closer to
the beginning your targeted keyword
appears, the higher the prominence,
the higher the prominence the better.
Prominence applies to the words within
the title, body of the document, the
meta tags, the heading tags, and the
alt-tags.
