The Internet Is Still the wild west
I was amazed the other day when I went on to one of our competitors site and found graphics that we created right there on their home page! I often Google around to see what people are searching for and how our PPC ads are doing – I noticed that one of our competitors ( videospokespeople.com ) was buying our keyword – Innovate ads – which does not upset me that much – all if fair in love and war right? so I clicked on video spokespeople and was amazed to see graphics that we created from scratch (not clip art ) was on their home page! Our graphics – so I e-mailed the contact “Rohan Williams, Director ” at the site (video spokespeople) here was his response:
I will definitely take a look into it today and remove them. My web guy is on big trouble.
Thanks for the heads up.
I then got another e-mail from Rohan Williams at video spokespeople:
Hello John,
I have discussed this with my webmaster and we have pulled the graphics in question. He apologizes and so do we. We hope to bring professionalism and quality to this young industry, and so far your firm is our only main peer as far as we see so far.
Keep up the good work.
Is that it? is that all that you have to do to get away with stealing someones assets from their site? I am not a big lawyer type of businessman – so I probably will do nothing but warn potential clients of the type of business they are running over there.
So there was no reply to Mr. Rohan at videosokespeople.com – best of luck to them we welcome the competition.
The entire incident made me think – god bless the internet – it’s still the wild wild west!
